The Nanaimo District Lacrosse Association is excited to introduce adaptive lacrosse to our association this year!
The program will be open to all athletes from mini tyke (2014) to midget (2003)
Registration is available online as of the 15th of December. There is open registration at Beban Park on Jan 12th and Jan 20th if you have any questions.
To register – sign your player up for the division (mini tyke through midget) specific to their year of birth. E transfer the fee ($100.00) to firstname.lastname@example.org with a note stating that your player is entering the adaptive program. Our registrar will move them internally and send you a confirmation email.
Nanaimo District Lacrosse Association has worked very hard to become an inclusive association – we strive to include all aspiring athletes to our association.
We look forward to meeting players/families/caregivers or anyone who wants to give lacrosse a try.
The session will begin in April and run until the middle of June, these sessions will take place on Friday evenings at the outdoor covered box located at John Barsby School.
Your child’s registration will include a team photo and a jersey. We are offering weekly practices and depending on registration small inter squad type games. We want to make sure that we meet the needs of each athlete and will include an intake process post registration. A member of the program will contact you to arrange a mutually agreeable time to meet, fill out a profile of the registered athlete and learn a little about how we can make lacrosse inclusive and exciting for each player! All lacrosse players will need gear – a stick, gloves, helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads and good footwear. We have four certified coaches for this season and a group of amazing peer coaches to assist your child. Registration will cover floor costs and all athletes will be insured by British Columbia Lacrosse Association. The British Columbia Lacrosse Association is very excited that Nanaimo District Lacrosse Association is the first lacrosse association in British Columbia to run this type of program for adaptive athletes. The Nanaimo District Lacrosse Association is looking forward to meeting adapted players in Nanaimo and to teach the game while making new friendships. It is with a heavy heart that we write this post on behalf of the Nanaimo District Lacrosse Association…
Our thoughts today are with Snuneymuxw First Nation, the NDSS Lacrosse Academy and all those athletes within our own association who are broken hearted.
Early this morning a young life was taken far to soon and tragically. This midget player was an amazing young man, terrific athlete and a friend to so many.
As Coach Gump says “He was a quiet, hard working athlete that I had the pleasure to coach for the last few years. I am devastated for his family, his friends, his teammates, his coaches, and all that he touched with his sly little grin and his warm heart.”
Hold your loved ones close tonight, say a prayer for those affected and tomorrow, cheer extra loud for a life taken too soon.
